Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 27 March 2026
Our commitment
We are committed to making Asermu accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
What we do
- Semantic HTML throughout the application
- ARIA labels and roles where native semantics are insufficient
- Keyboard navigation for all interactive elements
- Skip-to-content link on every page
- Sufficient colour contrast ratios
- Touch targets meeting the 44px minimum
- Respects reduced-motion preferences
- Focus indicators on all interactive controls
- Automated accessibility testing with axe-core across all pages
Known limitations
While we work to ensure broad accessibility, some areas may have limitations:
- Rich text editor: The manuscript editor (built on TipTap/ProseMirror) supports keyboard navigation and screen readers, but complex formatting operations may be more difficult with assistive technologies.
- Relationship graph: The character relationship graph is a visual tool. The underlying data is accessible through the character list and detail views.
- Drag and drop: Chapter reordering uses drag and drop. Keyboard alternatives are available for all reordering operations.
